Here you will find the STUDENT LOGIN to Career Connect, RIT’s preferred platform to connect our students and alumni with their future. Easily find the best co-op, internship, full-time jobs, events, and more to help accelerate your career forward.
Registration
Current students can log in with a single sign-in optionand you will be directed to your profile. Once logged in, you'll be prompted to set up a new password. Note: new incoming students do not request an account to access RIT Career Connect, once you are registered for a full load of RIT classes an account is automatically created for you. At that time you will be able to log into the system.
RIT alumnihave easy access signing in through their active RIT account. Career Connect access is tied to an RIT email account. Student accounts will stay active up until six months after the status changes from student to alumni. If alumni have not remained active, go to start.rit.edu and click on the ‘Alumni Access’ link to get a new email account. Then you can log in to your Career Connect account using your username and your new "@rit.edu" email address. If you have issues accessing your account, contact our office.
Once logged in successfully, update your profile by selecting My Account on the left-hand tab.
Basic background information will already be in your Career Connect profile, provided by the Registrar. Ensure all pre-loaded information is correct and up to date. Contact our office if you find an error in any of your profile data.
Fill in the fields under the Personal, Academic, and Privacytabs of your profile to create a customized Career Connect experience for yourself and employers. Note:You can update the Preferred Name field (found under Personal).
Students can customize their email and communication preferences from the Career Services office, employers, and events. Tigers also have the option toreceiveCareer Connecttext message alertsor job blasts with current job opportunities within your preferred field.
On occasion, we may generate resume books of students who meet specific criteria for employers. For example, at an employer’s request, our office can use Career Connect to search for students who have a background in Computer Science or Graphic Design and group their resumes together in an online resume book for the employer. If students would like to be included in these resume books, selectYesunder Include in Resume Books.
Under the Documents tabof Career Connect, studentscan view and upload their resume, cover letters, unofficial transcript, writing samples, and references.
SelectAdd Newat the bottom of the list to begin building your materials for a more robust profile. We recommend savingall of your documents as a pdf before the initial upload asCareer Connect will auto-format your documents and potentially convert your format incorrectly.
Students may store multiple versions of their resume in their documents, and they can select a 'Default' resume for the employer's viewership and resume books.
Events
Allcareer fairs, employer information sessions, career-related eventscan be found on Career Connect. Students can access this information through the Eventsor Calendartabs. Selecton any event to see its details and to submit an RSVP.
Making an Appointment
Make an appointment with a career services coordinator or career counselor by selecting Appointmentsatthe top right of the webpage.
Searching for Jobs
Start applying to positions by going to the Jobstab on the left navigation. All current job postings will be displayed with the most recent postings first. Students can narrow the list by selecting a specific industry or position type (co-op/internship). Students can also utilize the keywords box by entering an organization's name or city.
Select the job title to review specific job posting details. The position's details page will includethe description, location, position type, work authorization, desired majors, anda link to the employer’s profile.On the top right of the page, view information on How To Applyand Important Dates.
Mark a job posting as a favorite to review again in the future by selecting the star icon. To view saved favorites, click on the My Favoritestab.
Interviews
To find out which employers will be conducting interviews on campus, select on the Jobson the left navigation. Conduct an Advanced Searchand select Interviewsunder the Show Me section. Students can check the dates by choosing the position and reviewing the dates under the Schedule Detailscolumn on the right.
The Interviewssection of Career Connect contains information on positions you have applied for andyou to review your application status as well as sign-up for an interview time.
Students who meet the posted qualifications may select an interview time. First click apply, then select the preferred interview time.
Employers willreviewall submitted student applications and materialsto determine students for an interview. Those selected will be notified via email and given several days to select their preferred interview time. Students can check their status under the Requested Interviewscolumn inInterviews.If students were selected for an interview, a Schedule Interview button will appear; otherwise, the status will read ‘Not Invited’ or ‘Pending’ if selections have not yet been received for that employer.
Select the Schedule Interviewbutton and a list of available interview times will appear; select the desired time to interview and Signup. Students may change their interview time to another available time slot as long as the pre-select sign-up period is still open for the session.
Some employers listed are not conducting interviews on-campus or at a scheduled off-campus recruitment site. These organizations have requested that our office collect resumes from interested students and send the resumes to them in one packet. It will be listed in the system as Resume Collect.
Students apply for those positions in the same manner as an on-campus interview position. All future communication regarding possible interviews will come directly from the employer.
FAQs
RIT Students can access their Career Connect account with SSO. If you’re manually entering in your information, ensure you are using the proper RIT credentials (@rit.edu) and not the RIT Gmail (@g.rit.edu). If you are still experiencing issues, contact our office at careerservices@rit.edu for assistance.
If you’re alumni and experiencing issues with logging in, you will need an active RIT email to use SSO. Go to start.rit.edu to receive an RIT email for Career Connect access.
Student data is imported from SIS (Student Information System), an office of the registrar. Your first name can be edited in Career Connect, but in order to have your first name change permanently, you need to update your personal information atstart.rit.edu(this will update within 24 to 48 hours on most systems). Updating other information such as year level, GPA, major, etc. will need to be updated through your Academic Department. If you are experiencing issues with your Career Connect account, email us at careerservices@rit.edu, and we will assess the problem.
Before searching for co-op and full-time opportunities, complete your profile to the fullest extent. Career Connect will create a customized job search for you based on your profile, major, and career interests. Your job search just got easier!
Under your profile, select the Emails & Notifications tab to personalize your Career Connect experience. You can choose to customize your emails from employers, events, and other news as well as select web and mobile notification preferences.
RIT students still have access to the Handshake job search platform in a limited capacity. Students can still access their resume, profile details, past job applications, and Handshake’s job search tool. It is important to note that our office is no longer approving jobs in Handshake. If students find a co-op opportunity, they should review the role with their Career Services Coordinator and Academic Department for approval.
The Career Connect app is currently being developed and is coming soon!
We can’t change a student’s year level in SIS. It is based off of the credit hours earned. To learn more about your year level, contact your academic department for more information.
